Samsung with 8X wider bandwidth

Samsung has developed a chip new type of memory for mobile phones with ultra wide bandwidth for smartphones and tablets. The LPDDR2( Low Power Double Data Rate 2) RAM increases the bandwidth simply by increasing the number of pins on the chip 16 times larger from 32 to 512. This gives it 8 times higher memory capacity compare to normal mobile DDR memory.

Also samsung said that this innovation will reduce the power consumption by 87%. The advancement will first come in a 1 Gigabit(128MB) chip made on a 50 nanometer process. It is expected that Samsung will have the new memory module ready soon.

Samsung customers haven't been named apart, but Apple is expected to come as it is one of largest samsung customers for mobile memory for iPhone, iPad and iPod.
